Michigan Amateur
Fencing Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to:
- Providing the highest level of
instruction and facility for the sport of fencing.
- Broadening the base of support for
fencing in Michigan by developing and offering fencing related
community outreach programs, scholarship programs, and educational
programs to the underserved community.
- Producing fencers of Olympic caliber
through the active sponsorship of world class training programs,
competitions, and teams.
To achieve our goals,
MAFA partners with Grand Rapids Fencing Academy, one of Michigan's
premier professional fencing institutions. Under the direction of
Fencing Maestros Mikhail and Arkadiy Sarkisov, GRAFA is on the cutting
edge of fencing training in West Michigan providing instruction ranging
from beginners classes to training and coaching TEAM GRAFA, the Grand
Rapids Fencing Academy Travel Team. MAFA believes that our city is
extremely fortunate to have these gifted coaches, and it is our dream
to enable the youth of our city to take advantage of this opportunity.
With enough community resources, we hope to fund developmental fencing
programs in Grand Rapids including the underserved populations. If you
